The Ganga Expressway has become one of Uttar Pradesh's most important infrastructure projects in 2026. Stretching around 594 km from Meerut to Prayagraj, this six lane, access controlled greenfield expressway has greatly improved connectivity across the state.

Since its inauguration in April 2026, the expressway has reduced travel time, improved logistics, encouraged industrial growth, and increased real estate development in several districts.

The expressway has been designed for future expansion and can be widened from six lanes to eight lanes as traffic increases. The Ganga Expressway, one of the longest expressways in Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29 April 2026.

The main objective of the project is to make travel faster, lower transportation costs, and support economic growth across the state. It has reduced the travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to around six hours, making long-distance travel more convenient for both passengers and commercial vehicles.

The expressway passes through several major districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. By connecting these agricultural, industrial, and urban centres, the project is expected to attract new investments, promote industrial development, and create more employment opportunities.

With a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h, the Ganga Expressway offers modern travel facilities such as service roads, interchanges, FAS Tag enabled toll plazas, rest areas, emergency response services, underpasses, and safety barriers. These features provide a safer, smoother, and more comfortable driving experience.

The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹37,350 crore, including land acquisition. Apart from improving transportation, the expressway is expected to boost industrial development, agriculture, tourism, logistics, and real estate across Uttar Pradesh.

Better connectivity to major religious, historical, and commercial destinations along the Ganga region is expected to strengthen the state's economy and make Uttar Pradesh an even more attractive destination for businesses and investors.

This project consists of modern facilities and safety measures. It includes service roads, rest areas, toll plazas, and underpasses to ensure smooth and safe travel.
